SEMILLA BESADA FREE ON-LINE SEASONAL NEWSLETTER
At the end of each season Aspen and David circulate a free on-line newsletter about life and work on their 16 hectare conservation farm, which is located at 1300m above the town of Lanjarón. Semilla Besada has about 200 mixed fruit and nut trees, 100 mixed variety vines, 6 vegetable growing areas, plant nursery, a flock of rare-breed Andalucian Blue chickens, geese, rabbits, milking sheep and bees. They are also involved in establishing connections with local agencies who are working in the field of conservation, more particularly, the Estación Experimental del Zaidín. As the first farm in Europe under Holistic Management, Semilla Besada offers residential seminars in this framework as well as Dryland Permaculture Design. Local residents can also benefit from attending skill-building workshops on such subjects as pruning, irrigation and composting in dryland environments. Semilla Besada has a Heritage Seed Library and operates a Seed Swap Club.
