Spanish Land Grab Law

British TV keeps broadcasting worrying programmes about people buying in Spain having their homes repossessed by local developers and being forced to pay a fortune for the privilege. Seems unlikely, but apparanetly true. Has this happened in the Alpujarras ?

The Land grab law is a Valencian REGIONAL law and not a national one. THere are lots of things to look out for in terms of planning permission and legalities but land grab is not one in this area - est advice is to specifically ask your solicitor to check EVERYTHING you want checked out and not assume anything will be done automatically. Location of planned new roads are the main ones as compulsory purchase exists in spain same as in UK but compensation here is lower.
